As white-washed tombs,
Rote responses
Designed to placate or flatter,
Meaningless and insincere
They ease from your lips.
Your words, repeated
As to the deaf,
Cue cards all,
Spoken to patronize and subdue,
Haughty and pretentious
They speak not your heart.
Your words are placed
As guards for you,
Stick figures,
Sentries preventing conflict
Costly and precluding
Real communication.
On so many levels this made me sad...

but then
I pause, for I have so many who speak to me this way...

People take no care for their words anymore, nor do they take responsiblity for them. The words that I communicate are the most important thing about me, and if you can't count on them being true - then do you really know me?
